A country boy's world: An ol' dirt road and the smell of wildflowers on the summer wind; a bite of homeade ice cream and a glass of Momma's sweet tea; a glowin' field of fireflies and the big bright open Texas sky.

The Five Month Post

So what's up with the Marlers?

We are making friends, getting involved, and setting down roots here in Wimberley!  Wimberley is now home.

We hope you enjoy some  pics from the last FIVE of months.

Cole's 11th Birthday!

We had just moved in about a month before. Being new to Wimberley and not knowing too many places to have it we decided to have his birthday at home. We invited all our family and a few of his new friends and their family as well. It was soooo cold. What a great way to meet folks...invite them over to freeze.  Ha!

Pepa (my dad) and Little Cousin Aaron

Otto and Cole.
They have one BIG common passion...sports. They play so well together. I look forward to watching these two boys make memories on and off the field.

Swimming in the Pond

I couldn't see them but I sure could hear them laughing. I grabbed my camera and headed down to the water hole.

Easter Weekend Camping Trip

Mema and Pepa, my parents, put together a camping trip for the family. It was a whole lot of fun. You know,  I haven't always been a fan of the whole camping thing but now I LOVE it, and the best part is we love camping as a family!

Cousin time! It was a fabulous day at the park.

Ranger Baseball

"I want to play baseball this season." We didn't care if it was the night before tryouts.  Our boy was saying he wanted to get back into the game. If he wants to play we will make it happen.
Whewee!! I promise you  I about jumped out of my skin.  I love that he was ready to play again!!  Up to this point I had held on to a slight hope that one day I would hear those words again!! Yay!

The family came out for the day to watch Cade play ball.  It's nice that they can do that!
While in rehab for his right arm Cole decided this was a good time to focus on his good one: his left. Yep, he is learning to throw and bat left handed...it really is pretty impressive to see how quickly he picked it up.  As the saying goes: he made lemonade out of the lemons he was handed.  From a very early age  Cole fell in love with the game of baseball and has devoted countless hours and energy into being good at what he loves: playing competitive  baseball.  Although we want him better and playing baseball again,  it has been neat to see him grow  through this challenging time and be able to grasp  a very valuable lesson at such a very young age:  that it is important to work hard at the things he loves as long as he understands the importance of  finding a balance and not putting it before the One who gave him the passion and ability in the first place. He sees now that God has been saying all along, "Cole, I want more of you." I am so glad Cole has been willing to listen to that calling. :) His right arm is healing week by week, and I truly believe through this he will come out ahead because he was teachable.

5th Grade Field Day

This was Cole's last Field Day.
Cole and Holt out to win it! Cole and Holt hit it off right away and have so much fun together.
Tate and Cole have been best buds since Cole's first day at Jacob's Well. They have so much in common. They really are a lot alike and so their friendship comes easy.

Holt, Landon, Cole and Branton hanging out...yes,  Branton was one of the fifth graders for the day!
